Bamboo is a giant grass called “the green steel” because of its optimum mechanical features (tensile strength, elasticity, lightweight and resistance to fire). It is the perfect surrogato for wood, and because of this the most diffused sustainability certification protocol in the world, the LEED Rating System of the Green Building Council, defines bamboo as more sustainable than wood. Flooring made of high density bamboo composite have Brinell hardness grade 8, higher than any other wood and comparable to a ceramic tile. Furthermore, since they are elastic, they can withstand impacts without damage.
